Children's Ministries

Children's Ministries exists to multiply committed followers of Jesus Christ by reaching boys and girls with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.  Proverbs 22:6

We achieve our mission through partnering with parents in their God-given responsibility to raise their children in the ways of the Lord. We seek to teach children to know, value, and apply the Word of God, nurturing a Biblical worldview in children through prayer, teaching, and godly role models. We equip children to live out their faith in the world.

Preschool and Kindergarten (Ages 3-5)

Time: 10:00 AM, during the Contemporary Worship Service

On Sunday mornings, children who are ages 3 to kindergarten enjoy Bible stories, activities, and playtime to foster community and relationships while learning about following Jesus. These classes lay a Biblical foundation in the lives of our little ones through Bible stories from throughout the Old and New Testaments.

Elementary Classes (Grades 1-6)

Time: 10:00 AM, during the Contemporary Worship Service

If you have a child who is in grades 1-6, we would love to have them join our Sunday morning groups! Students have a time of large group worship and gathering before breaking out into classrooms by grade level. Our teachers use Bible stories, activities, Scripture memorization, and classroom discussion to dive deeper into the topic for each week.

  • Grades 1-4: Children work chronologically through the Bible and see the gospel unfold from Genesis to Revelation.
  • Grades 5-6: Students study how the Bible applies to everyday issues as they solidify a biblical worldview.

Special Needs

Children with special needs are warmly welcomed at Sheboygan eFree! If your child has a special need, please reach out to us so we can come up with an individualized plan on how we can best minister to your child.

Illness

Please, if your child shows any symptoms of illness, keep them home. We will look forward to seeing them when they are well! We are doing our part to provide a clean and healthy environment, though it is a team effort!

Some things parents can do to help:

  • If possible, have only one parent (preferably the same parent) drop off and pick up your child on Sunday mornings. This will help limit foot traffic and the number of people gathered at classroom entrances and exits before and after the service.

  • Please have your child wash their hands before and after they attend class.

Wednesday Evening

Awana

Awana is a place where lives are changed and children are reached with the transformative message of the gospel of Jesus Christ, each Wednesday night!

It is a fun approach to making the Bible alive and relevant with caring trained leaders who invest time, love and wisdom into shaping children’s lives. While kids are having fun together each Wednesday night, they’re learning about Jesus and growing in their faith in Him, too. They learn Bible verses and spiritual truths. They encounter life lessons that feed their soul. They participate in games and activities that train their bodies.

Your child and his/her friends won’t want to miss out on this wonderful blend of Bible teaching, Scripture memorization, and tons of fun! Each night of club will be filled with irresistible excitement for kids, divided into three segments:

  • Age-appropriate games on the Awana game circle
  • Small group interaction and completion of Bible-based lessons
  • Bible teaching, worship, award presentations, and the Gospel message

About Awana

Cubbies | Preschool

Sparks | 5K - Grade 2

Offers fun with God’s Word for grades 5K-2. The evenings are filled with fun games, music, teaching, and Bible memory.

Truth and Training (T&T) | Grades 3-6

Leads students in grades 3-6 through a deeper dive into the Bible. T&T engages kids by answering their questions about God and the Bible, while we study the meaning of God’s grace.

What does Awana mean?

Awana is an acronym that stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed and is based on 2 Timothy 2:15 - "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth".

What is the cost?

Costs per child are $18 each year for registration and $12 each year for a handbook. Uniforms are available at a separate cost but are not required.

Please note that we never want costs to keep a child from attending Awana. If you are unable to afford some or all of the Awana expenses, please email   for a scholarship.

Parent & Child Dedication

"For this child I prayed, and the LORD has granted me my petition that I made to him".

1 Samuel 1:27

While we do not baptize infants, we do observe Parent-Child Dedications, which are designed to thank God for the blessing of children and ask God to bring the child to saving faith in Jesus Christ.

The Parent-Child Dedication requires parents who have committed their way to the Lord and who are asking for wisdom, direction and grace in their parenting.  In a Parent-Child dedication, we also ask the church family to be actively and faithfully involved in helping the parents raise their children in the nurture and wisdom of God.

We typically hold Parent-Child dedications at least twice each year.
