Psalms 139:1-12, 23-24: Too Wonderful
The LORD is omniscient. He knows everything; and knows everything about each one of us. Everything. He knows everything you have ever done, every word you have ever spoken, and every motive of your heart, in the past, in the present, and in the future.
We live in a world that wants to be shallow, but the LORD will not allow any of us to be shallow with him. We try to do this by acting as if his knowledge has limits, acting as if my questions and doubts confound him, or acting as if we can keep things casual with God.
This psalm is about one reality: the LORD knows all things, and he knows you fully. He won’t stop pursuing you until you know this, receive it, and love him for it. He won’t stop until you know that God’s omniscience is too wonderful for words.
What is omniscience? (1-4)
Coming to grips with God’s omniscience. (5-12)
Learning to love God because of his omniscience. (23-24)
