Care Ministries

“Bear one another’s burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ.” Gal. 6:2

We strive to meet individual needs through relationships with others in Life Groups and various ministries and events. When additional care is required, the Care and Support Teams can address unique life circumstances.

We offer the following care ministries:

If you've lost a spouse, child, family member or friend, you've probably found that there are not many people who understand the deep hurt you feel. GriefShare is a support group for people who are grieving the loss of a loved one. This group is sponsored by people who understand what you are experiencing and want to offer you comfort and encouragement during this difficult time.

You are welcome to begin attending the GriefShare group at any session. GriefShare is a non-denominational group and features biblical teaching on grief and recovery topics. Please join us for the next GriefShare session. We know it hurts, and we want to help!

Attend a Meeting

GriefShare has two meeting options during the week:

       - Tuesdays from 9:30-11am
       - Thursdays from 6:30-8pm

Each session includes a video seminar and group discussion. A GriefShare workbook assists you with note-taking, journaling and grief study. This program is designed to help you heal and to move from mourning to joy.

Most people who have experienced separation and/or divorce will say they are the most painful and stressful experiences they've ever had. It's a confusing time when you feel isolated and have lots of questions about issues you've never encountered before.

Healing from divorce is not easy. At DivorceCare groups, people in separation and divorce find tools, teaching, and support to help them deal with their pain and give them hope for the future. DivorceCare groups meet weekly to help you face these challenges and move toward rebuilding your life.

Group Format

Each session has two distinct elements:

1. Seminar with Experts
During the first 30-40 minutes of the meeting, the group watches a video seminar featuring top experts on divorce and recovery subjects.

2. Group Discussion
After viewing the video, participants spend time as a support group, discussing what was presented in that week's video seminar, as well as encouraging one another in their day-to-day lives.

Attend a Meeting

DivorceCare meets on Wednesdays from 6:30-8pm at Compass for Christ Resources (1921 North Avenue, Sheboygan, WI 53083). The registration fee is $20/person, which includes a DivorceCare workbook. Please note: Pre-registration is required -- you are welcome to join at any point! Please contact Dana Kirchstein with any questions or to pre-register.

Food is about more than simply nourishing the body.

A home-cooked meal can be the means of entering in and celebrating a milestone event, or it can extend comfort and grace to a family who’s struggling or hurting. As the body of Christ, we have the glad opportunity to selflessly love, give, and serve!

Get Involved

Those on the Meals Ministry receive emails each time a new meal schedule has been established.  If it works in the schedule of the volunteer to provide a meal, he or she signs up.  If it doesn't work at that time, the volunteer simply does nothing.  There's never any pressure or expectation.

Meals are most often delivered hot to the recipient, but sometimes freezer meals are requested which can be used at the recipient's convenience.

Faith Community Nursing serves our church family by extending the love of Jesus through a holistic view of health and wellness among our church community.

This is done through compassion, nurturing, education, and encouraging others towards positive behaviors. FCN assists with medical needs, promoting health and wellness among our church family, and distributing relevant medical-related information and encouragement in our twice-yearly newsletter called The Honeycomb.

FCN Is Here for You

Navigating the world of medicine -- whether it be long-term care, a recent diagnosis, or preventative health -- can be overwhelming at times. FCN desires to come alongside you and help make that journey a bit easier. Among many other ways to help, we're here to:

       - Make a phone call or visit to see how things are going, relaying updates to pastors and elders
       - Maintain a medical equipment closet containing items that can be borrowed as needed
       - Assist with Advanced Directives

FCN Is Here for our Church Family

Promoting health and wellness among our church family is an important aspect of FCN. Watch for special FCN-sponsored events throughout the year, such as:

       -Blood pressure screenings
       -Flu shot clinics
       -First aid/CPR classes*

Heartsaver and Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR classes are available for anyone interested in becoming certified. For more details, contact FCN Coordinator Kristie Ahlborg, certified CPR instructor.

The Honeycomb

Gracious words are like honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body. Proverbs 16:24

FCN distributes a newsletter twice a year entitled The Honeycomb, providing relevant medical-related information and encouragement to the church family.

Serving Together

Did you know you don't have to have a medical background to be involved with FCN? FCN also looks to encourage our church family by matching volunteers ready to assist others with non-medical needs, such as running an errand, light housework, or reading Scripture.

If you'd like to volunteer, please fill out the following form and Kristie Ahlborg, FCN coordinator, will contact you when a match arises. Thank you!

Weekly Prayer Opportunities

1. Prayer Meeting
Tuesdays from 6-7pm in room 109

2. Men's Prayer Meeting
Wednesdays at 6:30am in the church library; Men of the church are invited to come together in the presence of the Lord to pray. We use the Psalms as a guide to pray for our  nation, community, and church family.

3. Grounded: Women's Ministry Prayer Initiative
As we pray, God changes us. He aligns our hearts to His. Our heart’s longing is to know Christ; to be firmly rooted in Him so that when hard winds batter against our lives, we’ll remain firm and steadfast in Him.

Each month we provide a new prayer focus in our monthly newsletter, along with correlating scriptures. Our team of praying women prays these scriptures over all the women of eFree in an ongoing way throughout the year.
