1 Corinthians 13: Love
The Corinthian church had an incorrect view of what it meant to be a mature Christian. They seemed to think that the essential mark of a mature Christian was prominent gifts from the Holy Spirit. In contrast, Paul wrote that the essential mark of a mature Christian is Christ-patterned love. So, in 1 Corinthians 13, Paul wrote about the necessity of love, the description of love, and the permanence of love, to point us to practice a life of Christ-patterned love.
