Philippians 4:2-9: Peace
Pastor Jon MacDonald
It’s easy to think that peace is a rare and dreamy interlude that exists for people in the easiest circumstances. Ironically, when we think this, we tend to get bitter toward people that we think have it easier than we do, and also feel sorry for ourselves. The result? More conflict, both within our souls (internal) and with others (external).
Our passage today is for the anxious and the worriers (all of us). Paul teaches us all about real peace—how to cultivate it and keep it. Peace is not a brief season of easy circumstances; it’s a commanded way of thinking and living for every believer. The source? “the Lord is at hand” (5).
