Romans 5:6-11: At The Right Time
Today we recognize the 506th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation, which began October 31 (the eve of All Saints Day), 1517, when Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses on the Castle Church door in Wittenberg. The heartbeat of the Reformation is that justification is. . .
(1) Sola Scriptura: according to the Scriptures only (our authority),(2) Sola Christus: through Christ alone (our ground),(3) Sola Gratia: by means of grace alone (the basis),(4) Sola Fide: through faith alone (the requirement), and(5) Soli Deo Gloria: for the glory of God alone (the purpose). As we commemorate the Lord’s Table, we are reminded that there is room for all who come through Christ alone.
Through faith in Christ Jesus alone . . .
We experience the undeserved love of God the Father. (6-8)
We know we will always belong to God the Father. (9-10)
We rejoice because this reconciliation is already ours. (11)
