Missions

Global Outreach for Christ

The central mission of Sheboygan eFree and every follower of Christ is to spread the message that Jesus saves. Our goal is to bring the good news of the Gospel to both our local community and the world at large, and we invite every member of our church family to join us in this effort.

We use two primary means to add missionaries to our family. First, by God’s grace, we develop mature believers from within our church family, disciple them, encourage them, and send them to the missions field. Second, our Missions Team sometimes recruits missionaries, usually through our EFCA ReachGlobal partnership.

We are thankful and eager to send believers to the missions field. By doing so, we are fulfilling Jesus’ command to go forth and make disciples of all nations.

Missions at Sheboygan eFree

In order to go about fulfilling Jesus’ command, our church leadership has developed a functional approach. Our missions activities are organized into four primary stages of ministry:

Make Disciples

Plant Churches

Develop Leaders

Multiply Disciples

Make Disciples

God has called us, His people, to make disciples throughout the world, baptize them, and teach them all the things Jesus taught us. It is our delight to send called and prepared servants to the nations.  We are thankful to God that this heart to send and willingness to obey is a value that has been present at the Sheboygan eFree Church from the beginning.

18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20

Plant Churches

The Sheboygan eFree Church is committed to joyfully sending called and prepared servants to the nations to plant churches in the name of Jesus Christ. We have 17 faithful couples and individuals in strategic places scattered throughout the world, including “creative access” countries (places where political restrictions and other obstacles prevent the open proclamation of the gospel). We are seeing rich fellowship and committed believers stepping out in faith to attend services.

14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? Romans 10:14

Develop Leaders

Once a church is planted, the next step is to train and develop leaders within those new churches, and then hand off leadership to local, indigenous elders and deacons as soon as it is feasible.

23 And when they had appointed elders for them in every church, with prayer and fasting they committed them to the Lord in whom they had believed. Acts 14:23

Multiply Disciples

When the church is handed off to local leadership, they multiply disciples by sharing the gospel and teaching people to obey everything Jesus commanded.

“And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.” 2 Timothy 2:2

Our Missions Family

Because we have so many missionaries in dangerous places and our list of missionaries would be incomplete without those names, we do not list the names of our mission family online. On the map below, we have indicated the general areas our current supported missionaries are serving. If you would like more information, we regularly publish a complete prayer guide (available in the church office).

Missions Conference

Each March during our annual missions conference we highlight and celebrate the work God is doing through missions.

The multi-day conference features missionary speakers who share with our church family about the work being done in the United States and worldwide.

Our Missions Story: Building a Legacy

This spring 2023 Equip series focuses on missions, or “Global Outreach.” That focus takes three forms: missions education, missions prayer, and missions testimony. Equip is our Sunday morning adult Christian Education hour designed to EQUIP and inspire every Christian to serve the LORD with gladness.

Whether you’re interested in hearing about the church’s missions history, what Scripture says about missions, or even how to approach Muslim neighbors, we’re covering it all! Click below to access the entire series.

Missions at eFree & the Biblical Basis for Missions

In this informative session of Equip, Dr. Jeff Lynds, an Elder over Missions, takes the lead in exploring the topic of missions at eFree. The focus of the session is on what we can learn about missions from the Bible. Drawing upon his years of experience in ministry, Dr. Lynds provides an overview of the biblical principles and practices that inform our approach to missions.

From the Great Commission to the stories of Paul and other early missionaries, he illuminates the key themes and teachings that have guided the church in its mission to spread the gospel to all corners of the world. With insightful analysis and practical advice, this session is a valuable resource for anyone seeking to deepen their understanding of the role of missions in the life of the church.
