2 Timothy 2:14-19: The Word of Truth

God is building his covenant people on the firm foundation of his inspired, preserved and infallible Word. In every generation there will be unique challenges to God’s definition of sanctification and holiness (how shall we live?) and the gospel (what is the ‘good news’?) and Christian doctrine. In every generation, God’s people cling to his Word.

As we experience questions, doubts and even challenges to God’s Word and authority, it is incumbent upon us to respond with wisdom. In our passage today, Paul instructs Timothy that there is a time to “remind” and to “charge,” but there is also a time to “avoid” the trendy topics.
