Psalm 107: Say So
Psalm 107 serves as the entry point into Book Five, the final book of the Psalms. Dr. O. Palmer Robertson, in his outstanding volume The Flow Of The Psalms uses the term consummation as the dominant theme in Book Five. After a period of hardship and exile, Book Five speaks of the climactic restoration of worship for God’s people, with Jerusalem being the epicenter as The LORD’s permanent dwelling place. The climax is found in Psalms 146-150, the Hallelujah finale.
Notice the opening words of Psalm 107, and note the connection with Psalm 106:1. Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever. The steadfast love of the LORD is the preeminent theme in Psalm 107, occurring six times (verses 1, 8, 15, 21, 31, and 43). Psalm 107 describes various trials the LORD’s people faced through the years, and how the steadfast love of the LORD ministered to their needs. Let’s ponder the steadfast love of the LORD, and relate these thoughts to the needs of our lives.
The Steadfast Love Of The LORD Is Always Present…
– Even When Our Journey Seems Impossible. (4-9)
– Even When Our Freedom Seems Restricted. (10-16)
– Even When Our Suffering Seems Intense. (17-22)
– Even When Our Circumstances Seem Hopeless. (23-32)
