menu_book 1 Samuel 1:1-1:28

Throughout our nation today, people are pausing to honor our mothers. Weknow that the principle behind this expression of respect is found in thewords of Moses who wrote Honor your father and your mother, that your daysmay be long in the land that the LORD your God is giving you (Exodus 20:12).Jesus honored his mother on the cross when, referring to Mary, he said to theApostle John Behold, your mother! (John 19:27).The story we are considering today involves a woman by the name ofHannah. This remarkable woman sought God in prayer during a time whenthe culture was deteriorating and her own home life was less than ideal. As we examine 1 Samuel 1, we will seek to honor our mothers, and the impactthey have had upon our lives.
