Ezekiel 38: Gog & Magog, Part 1
The Bible describes a future day when a coalition of seven nations, which arehostile toward Israel, join forces to wage war against the Jews. The commander-in-chief of these military forces is referred to as Gog, who is described as a rulerof Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal. Ezekiel 38:15 describes Gog as coming from out ofthe uttermost parts of the north. When we examine today’s maps, we note thatMoscow is north of Israel.
The first member of the seven nation coalition is Persia, which today wouldinclude the regions of Iran, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. What is interesting is thatthe Russian and Iranian people come from a common Indo-European ethnicstock. As we examine the nature of this invasion, our eyes rest upon God’spurpose stated in 38:16, which declares In the latter days I will bring you againstmy land, that the nations may know me, when through you, O Gog, I vindicate myholiness before their eyes.
