Joshua 24:14-15: Faithful Fathers

The theme of Joshua is God’s covenant faithfulness to provide an “inheritance” (used 58 times in Joshua) of Promised Land for his faithful people in the sight of all the nations of the earth. In every generation, the people of God must learn to treasure the fundamental inheritance: the Lord himself. We are called to “fear the Lord and serve him in sincerity and faithfulness” (24:14). On this Father’s Day weekend, we look to the example of Joshua and honor the men who lead us in our fundamental task: “As for me and my house, we shall serve the Lord” (24:15).
