John 6:1-14: More Than Enough

The people of Jesus’ day were astonished by the miracles he did which immediately improved their lives in this world. Jesus miraculously healed and fed multitudes of people, and the more he healed and fed them, the more they came. Today we will see him feed 5,000 from 5 small loaves of bread and 2 small fish.

In this fourth sign in the Book of John, Jesus makes it very clear (we paraphrase): I will not continue to provide free food (immediate miraculous physical benefits). Instead, come to me because you see that ‘I am the Bread of Life’ and you know that there is no real life without me.
