Passage: Revelation 1:4-8

The last Sunday of 2023 gives us the opportunity to reflect upon what stands behind us (2023) while preparing for what stands before us (2024). A time of review and preview can be a valuable tool for discerning not only how God has led but also how God is leading. The passage we are examining today equips us for this task.

The Apostle John wrote the book of Revelation while exiled on the desolate island of Patmos in the Aegean Sea (1:4). The specific destination for this book pertains to the seven churches noted in chapters two and three. Around A.D. 95, God chose to reveal his sovereign purposes to the Apostle John, connecting the now with the not yet, the near and distant aspects of his singular plan for all ages. We will explore these verses together in preparation for receiving the elements of communion.

As We Prepare For 2024, Stay Focused Upon Christ, Reflecting Upon…

  • The Distinctive Titles Of Our Lord. (4-5a)
  • The Redemptive Work Of Our Lord. (5b-6)
  • The Certain Return Of Our Lord. (7-8)
