Psalm 92: Your Declaration

September 18, 2022 | Dr. Gary Hylander
Passage: Psalms 92:1-15

Having entered Book 4 through the double doors of Psalms 90 and 91,
we are now introduced to a collection of 9 psalms that reinforce the
fact that the LORD is King. Psalms 92-100 inform us that the LORD is
our permanent dwelling place, that our God has established a perpetual
dynasty through the line of David, and our LORD is to be the focus of
our worship. Psalms 92-100 emphasize authentic worship, with Psalm
96 serving as the pinnacle of these 9 psalms.

In Psalm 92, we are called to make a declaration of our faith in the
LORD. Verse 2 summons us to declare your [Lord] steadfast love in the
morning, and your faithfulness by night. Verse 15 challenges us to declare
that the LORD is upright. These 2 verses serve as bookends to Psalm 92,
equipping us to worship our LORD throughout our lives. For the exiled
Jewish people who pondered this psalm on the Sabbath, such words
would remind them that their true dwelling place is in the LORD alone.
This should be our experience as well.

• The Opposition Our LORD Has Faced. (5-9)

• The Blessings Our LORD Has Provided. (10-15)
